New Era

So, my mom and I were reading the New Era together the other day and we found an article that we really liked. So we decided we would put it on here.

"It is, unfortunately, all too easy to illustrate the confusion and distortion of womanhood in contemporary society. Immodest, immoral, intemperate women jam the airwaves, monopolize magazines, and slink across movie screens-all while being celebrated by the world. Popular culture today often makes women look silly, inconsequential, mindless, and powerless. It objectifies them and direspects them and then suggests that they are able to leave their mark on mankind only by seduction-easily the most pervasively dangerous message the adversary send to women about themselves."

  1. Excellent food for thought ladies. I agree wholeheartedly with the article. In our ward we have been memorizing the Relief Society Theme. It is is very similar in ways to the Young Womens' theme. As we were reciting it yesterday I had a very strong confirmation and witness as to the important role women have and how satan must delight in the way that the world and popular media portray women and how much influence that negative image can have on us.

Then we had a special speaker--a beautiful woman in her mid-30's who spoke about the harmful influence of pornography on her former marriage. It was enlightening, and kind of scary.

We are blessed to have things like The New Era, Young Womens and Relief Society to help us as we navigate the untruths that we see in society.

    Love you ladies!
